About Musey and Sustainable Fashion Week
Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW), originally launched in the UK, aims to make sustainable fashion accessible through a creative grassroot approach. Musey proudly serves as the very first Canadian Hub. As the first community-to-community Sustainable Fashion event in Canada, SFWCanada focuses on empowering communities by providing skills and resources to transform our collective relationship with clothing. The programme advocates four key actions: regenerate, repurpose, reconnect, and rewear.
Musey’s involvement in SFW underscores its commitment to enhancing sustainability and social responsibility within the fashion industry. As the first regional hub in Canada, Musey aims to:
- Promote Sustainable Fashion – Advocate for more sustainable practices in the fashion industry by making eco-friendly fashion accessible and appealing to a broader audience
- Empower Communities – Provide individuals and communities with the skills and knowledge needed to adopt and support sustainable fashion, hence it promotes a culture of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
- Preserve Traditions – Empower artisans and traditional craftsmanship by integrating their skills into the sustainable fashion movement, making sure that these valuable practices are encouraged in our community
- Drive Positive Change – Influence and reshape consumer attitudes and behaviors towards fashion through creative, grassroots approaches that support the regeneration, repurposing, reconnection, and rewearing of garments.
- Expand Impact – Goal to connect with the London community and hope to inspire more hubs to be created in Canada. Thus, this will enhance its reach and effectiveness in promoting sustainable fashion practices
